Different forms of performing Hajj: There are various methods of performing Hajj that can be classified into three categories: Hajj-e-Tamattu: Hajj combined with Umrah with two Niya’hs, one for Umrah and second for Hajj. Pilgrims wear separate Ihram for each Umrah and Hajj. Animal sacrifice is compulsory. Hajj-e-Qiran: Hajj combined with umrah with one Niya’h. Pilgrims remain in the state of Ihram after Sa’ee. The sacrifice of an animal is compulsory. Hajj-e-Ifrad: Hajj without Umrah. Animal sacrifice is optional. While all the forms of Hajj are rewarded by Allah Almighty, the most recommended method to perform Hajj by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is Hajj-e-Tammattu, which requires pilgrims to perform Hajj during the months of Hajj i.e., Shawaal, Dhul Qa’dah and Dhul Hijjah.
